Clemson Plants Database

Information tailored specifically to the state of South Carolina, through Clemson University’s Cooperative Extension Service. May be more broadly applicable to the Mid-Atlantic states with similar zone ratings on the USDA Hardiness Zones Map.

Cornell University Woody Plants Database

A good source of plant data for New York State and the northeastern part of the United States. Search by Common Name, Botanical Name, or choose from a variety of characteristics and categories.

A very handy resource for general information and plant identification

Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center

A large database with information on a variety of plants native to North America, searchable using a variety of inputs.

Missouri Botanical Garden Plant Finder

Missouri Botanical Garden’s dedicated search tool with over 7,500 plants catalogued. Search by Common Name, Botanical Name, or plant characteristics.

University of Connecticut Plants Database

Online resource for plants rated for Zone 6 and colder. Good source of information for plants in the northern US and southern Canada.
